Lackawanna County, was the 67th county, formed on 13 August 1878 from Luzerne County

Abington Township 1806 Includes Waverly.  Name is now Waverly Township.
Archbald 1877 Blakely Township.  Includes Eynon.
Benton Township 1838 Nicholson Township.  Includes Fleetville
Blakely Borough 1867 Blakely Township. Includes Peckville
Blakely Township April 1819 Parts of Providence and Greenfield Townships.  
Carbondale   3 March 1851 Carbondale Township
Carbondale Township April 1831  Part of Greenfield and Blakely Townships.  Includes Childs, White's Crossing
Clark's Green 1914 South Abington Township
Clark's Summit 1911 South Abington Township
Clifton Township 14 December 1875 Covington Township
Covington Township 1818 Wilkes-Barre Township.  Includes Daleville
Dalton Borough 1895 North Abington Township. Formerly known as Bailey's Hollow
Dickson City Borough 1875 Blakely Township.  Formerly known as Priceburg.
Dunmore Borough 10 April 1862 Providence Borough
Elmhurst Township 1889 Roaring Brook Township.  Was originally a borough.
Eynon   Not an incorporated municipality.  Part of Archbald Borough
Fell Township November 1845 Carbondale Township.  Includes Simpson and Richmondale.
Glenburn Township 1877 Formerly a borough, reverted to a township in 1934.  Formerly known as Humphreysville.
Greenfield Township January 1816 Abington Township
Hyde Park Borough 4 May 1852 From Providence Borough.  Now part of the City of Scranton.
Jefferson Township 1836 Providence Township.  Includes Mt. Cobb.
Jermyn Borough 1870 Blakely Township.  Formerly known as Gibsonburgh.
Jessup Borough July 1862 Prior to that date, it was Winton
Lackawanna Township January 1839 Parts of Pittston and Providence Townships.  Now extinct.  The final part of the township 
(Minooka) was annexed by the City of Scranton in 1950

Moosic Borough 1899 Lackawanna Township.  Includes Greenwood.

Newton Township 1842 Falls Township, Wyoming County
North Abington Township 1867 Abington Township
Old Forge Township 26 May 1871 Now extinct.
Old Forge Borough 1890 Old Forge Township.  Includes areas of Sibley and Austin Heights.
Olyphant Borough 1877 Blakely Twp
Peckville   Not an incorporated municipality.  Part of  Blakely Borough
Providence Borough 14 March 1849 From what remained after annexation of part of Providence Township to Pittston.Now part of City of Scranton.
Providence Township 1782 Area was then part of Northumberland County.  Western portion reannexed to Pittston Township on 14 March 1849. Now extinct.
Ransom Township 1849 Parts of Exeter and Newton Townships 
Roaring Brook Township 1871 Covington Township
Scott Township 1846 Greenfield Township.  Includes Montdale.
Scranton Borough 1856 Providence Township.  Formerly known as Slocum Hollow.
Scranton City 23 April 1866 A joining of Boroughs of Providence, Hyde Park and Scranton 
South Abington Township 25 November1867 Abington Township
Springbrook Township 22 November 1853 Covington Township
Taylor Borough 1890 Parts of Lackawanna and Old Forge Townships.  Formerly known as Taylorville, and included Rendham.
Thornhurst Township 07 November 1995 Prior to this date it was Lehigh Township
Throop Borough 1894 Dickson City Borough
Vandling Borough 1899 Fell Township
Waverly Township 02 November 2010 Prior to this date it was Abington Township
West Abington Township 24 January 1895 North Abington Township
Winton 1877 Blakely Township.  Became Jessup in the 1950's.
