Rules for the organization, including membership requirements, have changed over the years. You can read the rules as they were provided to the Scranton Colony when it was being formed: Page One; Page Two. All this material was in a scrapbook (purchased on eBay) created by Deborah Edith Wallbridge Carr.

The Society of New England Women still exists. For information on current colonies, visit their website. Many of the early records have been preserved in the Sophia Smith Collection, Women's History Archives, at Smith College. The archive pages contain a history of the organization.
