The church was interdenominational to attract all faiths.  There was no church in the area at the time.  They began as a Sunday School in 1933, meeting in a converted chicken coop.  The church was dedicated in 1937.

Zion United Evangelical Church

The church seemed to have gone out of existence after 1942.  In 1944 the building was rented by the Evangelical Conference to the Pilgrim Holiness Church.  In 1946, the Evangelical Church merged with the United Brethren in Christ at a meeting in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to form the Evangelical United Brethren Church. This body, in turn, united with the American Methodist Church in 1968 to form the United Methodist Church.
