Scranton Almanacs

All have scans of the pages listing the events (many death notices) of the previous year, unless otherwise note. There is also Luzerne County information in most issues.
Price comparisons between 1857, 1889 and 1891

At the left is part of an article (marked Scranton Tribune, Nov. 3, 1891) that was pasted over an ad in the 1891 almanac. The almanac was bound into an old volume, but apparently the issues came from different sources. Part of the article was trimmed when it was bound. The discussion is about having tariffs instead of free trade. Prices of representative items are listed for three dates: 1857; October 1889; September 1891. In most cases the price had gone down under a tariff system.
