Additional information in the following paragraphs provided by Eric Suddes, along with the two photos above, in January 2013:

From exploring the Ellis Island Web Page I have discovered that James (Robson) Wood aged 64 years, a US Citizen arrived in Ellis Island on September 15th, 1911 from Liverpool aboard the Baltic. His last place of residence was noted as Stanley, England. He was returning home to 16, Electric Street, Stranton, PA.

The family have in their possession a trunk which is reported in family stories to have been used on trips to and from USA. Did James use this trunk to travel to England? Why had James re-visited Stanley? Was he returning family possessions belonging to his late father, Roger?

Ellis Island Records state that Roger Wood had travelled to New York aboard the Majestic(1890). He arrived on 6th, September 1893, to live with his eldest son,(no reason why), where he died in 1895. The ship's manifest states that Roger travelled alone with 1 piece of luggage (was it the trunk?). He had embarked in Liverpool and his occupation was stated as miner.

The MAJESTIC was built by for White Star and Dominion Line in 1890, by Harland and Wolff Limited, Belfast, for the Liverpool, Queenstown - New York service. It was 9,965 tons, 582 feet long and 58 feet wide. It carried 1,490 passengers (300 first class, 190 second class and 1000 third class). It had 2 funnels and 3 masts, reduced to 2 masts in 1903. Its sister ship was the Teutonic.
