Jan 16, John WANISH, Austrian, Company laborer, 45, 1, Richmond No. 3, By cars. He was engaged in cleaning railroad cars and stepped backward on another track and the engine instantly killed him. It is supposed that on account of the noise in the breaker he failed to hear the locomotive. Outside.

Feb. 6, Powell ATCHUE, Polish, Laborer, 30, S, Richmond No. 3, By cars. Stepped directly in front of a car of supply coal.

Mar. 1, Alonzo SUMMERS, English, Laborer, 24, S, Storrs No. 3, Examined place before starting to work in the morning, but it must have contained a slip that they failed to detect.

Mar. 7, Bruno MALALO, Italian, laborer, 32, S, Coal Brook, By fall of rock. Started to work too soon after firing a blast.

Mar. 16, Charles ATKINSON, American, Brakeman, 16, S, Storrs #2, By cars. A car bedcame derailed at a switch and pinioned him against a prop and was badly injured. Died March 23.

April 8, Frank CHESENY, Polish, Miner, 44, M, 4, Johnson No 2., By fall of coal. Started to work without making through examination of place. Internally injured.

April 20, William MACILAVAGE, Polish, Laborer, 24, S, Forest City, Susquehanna, By fall of rock while he and his miner were standing a prop. Killed instantly.

April 24, John KUGOR, Austrian Slate picker, 47, M. 4, Ontario, By railroad cars. A runaway car bumped the car he was on and threw him under the wheels. He was instantly killed. Outside.

Sept. 23, James GILHOOLEY, American, Runner, 21, S, Marvine, By blasting. A miner was firing and Gilhooley came through the second cross-cut from the face from the third chamber and walked directly into the blast.

Sept. 23, Stephen GREBOSKI, Lithuanian, Miner, 42, Miner, 6, Forest City, Susquehanna, By fall of roof. He went under some treacherous roof to mine out some loose coal when a piece fell on him.

Sept. 25, Martin BARRETT, Irish, Laborer, 41, M, 6, North End, By fall of coal. The coal had been examined by his miner and another laborer and thought to be safe.

Oct. 2, James SHOVELEN, American, Sinker, 32, S, Marvien, By falling down shaft. He was arranging lines to timber by and it is supposed he stumbled while crossing the shaft on a plank.

Oct 13, Michael STUESKI, Polish, Miner, 35, M, 4, North End, By blasting. He was firing two blasts at the same time and it is supposed that he thought they had missed and he returned just as they exploded.

Nov. 10, Andrew YURKO, Russian, Miner, 28, M, 2, North West, By fall of roof. He had fired 4 successive blasts and returned to examine when a large slab fell on him.

Nov. 21, Andrew YANKO, Hungarian, Laborer, 20, S, Ontario, By fall of rock. He was shoveling coal to the car when a large slab fell, killing him instantly. The roof was thought to be safe, but it contained a thin seam and smooth back that could not be detected.

Nov. 21, Costic SMEGEIGUSKI, Polish, Miner, 32, M, 1, Johnson No. 2, By fall of roof. He overlooked a treacherous stone in his examination and started to work under it when it fell on him.

Nov, 26, Robert MITCHEL, Scotch, Company Man, 66, S, North End, By cars. He tried to prevent a mule from stepping in front of a moving rock car, stumbled in his effort and fell under the car.

Nov. 29, Anthony GOLDEN, Irish, Miner, 62, M, 6, Coal Brook, by fall of roof. He failed to bar down a bad piece of roof the previous day.

Dec 8, Jacob PHILPOT, American, Laborer, 24, M, 1, Coal Brook, By fall of roof. He was stooping to pick up a T rail in his father's chamber.

Dec 12, Frank SMITH, Polish, Laborer, 25, S, Richmond No. 3, By fall of roof. He was cleaning coal away to rest and a discharged prop after a blast.

Dec. 15, Robert LAKE, American, Miner, 23, M, 2, Leggetts Creek, By fall of roof. He started to work after blasting before making an examination.

Dec. 21, Alfred BELL, American, Motor-engineer, 20, S, Leggetts Creek, By cars, He was pushing a car into a chamber with a motor, when his light ignited a small pocket of gas, and in his effort to escape he must have fallen under the motor.

Jan. 3, Salvator MIRA, Italian, Miner, 42, M, 5, Pennsylvania No. 1, Fatally injured by falling under cars. He was riding on cars on his way home from No. 2 shaft to No. 1 breaker. Died the next day. Outside.

Jan. 3, John KUKARUK, Polish, Laborer, 22, S, Diamond, Instantly killed by falling down shaft. He was working the Reider Vein. On the way home he must have got confused and opened the self-closing gate at the foot and fell down shaft.

Feb. 6, Patrick O'BOYLE, Irish, Machine runner, 45, M, Underwook, Killed at foot of shaft by being struck by piece of "Billy" block, which was broken by cross head. It became stuck in shaft while bucket was descending but later released itself and fell. Shaft was being sunk.

Feb. Mike PIPIN, Slavonian, Laborer, 22, S, Pennsylvania No. 1, Killed by fall of roof at face of chamber. The miner left chamber in unsafe condition.

Feb. 13, Frank STANCAVITCH, Polish, Driver, 19, S, Pine Brook, Killed by miner cars on main road. His lamp fell off his cap and while picking lamp up he was caught by the cars.

Feb. 15, Frederick Green, Scotch, Motorman, 21, S, Von Storch, Killed by mine cars on main road. He fell off motor while teaching his brakeman to run it.

Feb. 16, Peter MURRICK, Slavonian, Laborer, 22, S, Pennsylvania No. 1, Killed by being struck by piece of roof that fell off rib in pillar place. The miner had told the laborer not to work there.

Feb. 29, Anthony HOROSKO, Polish, Miner, 44, M, 3, Pancoast, Fatally injured by premature blast at face. Died March 9.

Mar. 7, Mike YUCHAK, Slavonian, Laborer, 22, S, Green Ridge, Fatally injured by fall of roof at pillar place. Died a few hours later.

Mar. 7, Thomas ZATAWESKY, Lithuanian, Miner, 44, M, 5, Pancoast, Fatally killed by delayed blast at face. He thought the squib had missed fire and returned too soon.

Mar. 15, William R. DAVIS, American, Bratticeman, 33, M, 5, Diamond, Killed by setting off a pocked to gas at face of abandoned chamber.

Mar. 26, Otto REGI, German, Miner, 38, M, 2, Pine Brook, Instantly killed by premature blast at face.

Mar. 27, Thordore RUBA, Slavonian, Miner, 39, M, 6, Pancoast, Instantly killed by fall of roof 25 feet from face.

Mar. 23, Martin JACOBS, Lithuanian, Miner, 51, M, 3, Von Storch, Fatally injured by premature blast at face. He forced tight cartridge into hole with a steel drill died May 25.
